A Spherical Harmonic Model of Earth's Lithospheric Magnetic Field up to Degree 1050

Detailed mapping of the Earth's magnetic field brings key constraints on composition, dynamics, and history crust. Satellite near-surface measurements detect different length scales are complementary. Here, we build a model, selecting processing from German CHAMP ESA Swarm satellites, which merge with scalar anomaly data. We follow regional approach for modeling next transform series models into unique set spherical harmonic (SH) Gauss coefficients. This produces first global model to SH degree 1050 derived by inversion all available measurements. The new agrees previous satellite-based at large wavelengths fits satellite data down expected noise levels. Further assessment in geographical spectral domains shows be stable when downward continued surface.
